Spring All-League and All-CIF Selections
As another exceptional season comes to a close, Cathedral Catholic is proud to recognize the student-athletes who earned All-League and All-CIF honors across multiple sports this spring season. Cathedral Catholic teams brought home multiple City League titles and 3 CIF San Diego Section Championships. Along the way, our athletes delivered standout performances, earning well-deserved recognition on All-League and All-CIF teams.
Highlighting our standout performances from the spring:
- Badminton won their first game in over 3 years in a match vs Mission Bay!
- Baseball finished 19-12 overall with highlight wins over Mater Dei, Santa Ana and a senior night win over Saints
- Boys’ Golf had an amazing season from start to finish. Early on the boys shot their way to a #1 ranking overall and managed to maintain that excellence throughout the season finishing with an undefeated league championship and a CIF championship, taking down perennial power Torrey Pines. 8 golfers were named to first and second All-League teams and 5 golfers named to first and second team All-CIF. Coach Joe FIlippone was named CIF Coach of the Year.
- Boys’ lacrosse finished another undefeated league season and secured #3 seed in the Open Division playoff.
- Girls’ Lacrosse secured #2 seed in the Open Division, ultimately falling to league rival Coronado in the championship game.
- Girls’ Beach Volleyball had another tremendous season. They finished as league and Open Division CIF champs, for a 4th year in a row!
- Softball had a strong season under first year coach, Jenny Marnin, making it to the Open Division playoff as #5 seed, falling to league rival Christian in the third round.
- Boys’ Tennis finished 10-7 overall and had a standout performances from Jacoby Laws (singles) & Drew Campbell / Jared Edwards (doubles) who qualified for CIF.
- Girls’ Track and Field secured another undefeated league title AND their 5th CIF title in a row!! Liesel Sellerberg ’26 won the 1600M and Kyla O’Donnell ’27 won the Long Jump and Triple Jump in the CIF DII meet. Also, earlier in the season two school records dropped… Distance Medley shattered the school record by 11 seconds (Liesel Sellerberg ’26, Kaellyn Peart ’26, Patricia Hellmann ’26, Jocelyn Gibson ’25) and the 4x1600M new school record, 5th in invite division, 6th fastest time in the Nation (Jocelyn Gibson ’25, Liesel Sellerberg ’26, Calliandra Schulteis ’27, Patricia Hellmann ’26)
- Boys’ Track and Field won another undefeated league championship and placed second in CIF DII. Steven Evans-Glynn III ’25 broke the school long jump record with a jump of 23’8 and a #1 ranking in San Diego. The boys 4x100M 41.53 was a school record and good for #19 in the state (Honor Faalave-Johnson ’27, Aidan Smith-McGlynn ’26, PJ Parker Johnson ’26, Gianluca Busalacchi ’27). Nathan Wilber and Honor Faalave-Johnson each won their respective events in the CIF DII meet, 3200M and 100M.
- Boys Volleyball finished with 15-9 overall record and received a #7 ranking in Open Division. Luca Valdivia ’26 & Thomas Branson ’25 had standout performances for the team throughout the year.
