Julia Blyashov has excelled at every level, heading to Stanford after high school career ends

She calls herself just a volleyball junkie.

From travel ball, to Cathedral Catholic High, to international competition, where she was part of the USA U19 National Team that took home gold in the Pan Am Cup in July, beating Brazil in Oklahoma, Julia Blyashov has played at every level.

She is certainly focused on her season high school season, but she has newer goals … college and the Olympics.

Blyashov, like so many others, survived coronavirus that robbed her of her sophomore season at Cathedral.

“I have had a lot of help along the way, but COVID was a weird thing,” the senior outside hitter said. “I still wish I could have had a sophomore season, but things have really worked out for me.”

Now 6-foot-3, Blyashov was named the San Diego Section’s player of the year in volleyball after leading the Dons to the Western League and Open Division championships in 2021.

Cathedral Catholic finished 36-5 last season, losing the Southern California Regionals finals to eventual state champion Los Angeles Marymount, winning the first set 25-19 before the Sailors easily captured the final three sets 25-14, 25-17, 25-11.

This season the Dons are 24-0 with Blyashov playing a major role.
