Three Football Standouts Sign Letters of Intent
Cathedral Catholic High School celebrated a proud moment as three of its football stars officially committed to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. Luke Westfall, Sidney Dupuy, and Diezel Hernandez signed their National Letters of Intent, solidifying their futures and leaving a legacy for Dons football.
Luke Westfall – Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
A dominant force on the defensive line, Luke Westfall is heading to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound standout earned All-League and All-CIF honors during his senior season. Westfall showcased his versatility and power with 51 tackles, including eight for loss and 7.5 sacks, anchoring Cathedral’s defense. His high school career highlights include helping the Dons win a state championship in 2021 and finishing as CIF runners-up in 2024. Beyond the gridiron, Westfall excelled in the classroom as an honor roll student all four years and displayed his athleticism in rugby.
“I’m excited to bring my talents to Cal Poly and continue my journey both on and off the field,” said Westfall.

Sidney Dupuy – San Diego State University
Defensive lineman Sidney Dupuy will remain close to home as he joins the Aztecs at San Diego State University. Dupuy capped off a stellar senior season with 31 tackles, including five for loss, three sacks, and a pass defended. A three-star recruit recognized by 247 Sports, Dupuy’s relentless work ethic and tenacity have made him a key contributor for Cathedral Catholic. His five tackles for loss ranked third on the team, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
“SDSU is a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to represent my city at the next level,” Dupuy shared.

Diezel Hernandez – University of San Diego
Linebacker Diezel Hernandez is set to join the University of San Diego Toreros. Known for his leadership and dedication, Hernandez expressed deep gratitude to those who supported him on his journey.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent and opportunities that have brought me to this moment. I’m beyond grateful for my family, coaches, and teammates who have supported me throughout this journey. I’m blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of San Diego!” Hernandez said.
The Cathedral Catholic community is proud of these student-athletes and their accomplishments, both on and off the field. As they transition to the collegiate stage, Westfall, Dupuy, and Hernandez carry the values and spirit of Dons football with them, representing a program that continues to build champions.
