Liam Koett ’27 Shines in Surf Competition
Cathedral Catholic Surf closed out the regular season with two strong showings at the Scholastic Surf Series events at Army Navy Academy in Carlsbad. In the February contest, the Dons battled challenging 4-6 foot waves and were led by a standout performance from Liam Koett, who finished 1st in Men’s Longboard, 3rd in Men’s Shortboard, and added a 4th-place finish in Bodyboard. Freshman Judi Voils also made an impact, earning a 6th-place finish in Women’s Shortboard against a tough field.
The March event brought a different challenge with smaller, more technical waves, but the Dons continued to compete at a high level. Koett once again led the way, taking 1st in Bodyboard and 3rd in Men’s Longboard to finish an impressive run of performances. With momentum building, the Dons now turn their attention to the upcoming State Championships, where Grant Fukunaga, Parker Gallagher, Liam Koett, Sofia McKay, Lucas McKay, Alex Stanton, Alex Voils, and Judi Voils will represent Cathedral Catholic on the state stage.
