Athletes Honored by High School Sports Association
Cathedral Catholic is proud to announce that two of our outstanding student-athletes were honored by the High School Sports Association (HSSA) for their excellence in athletics and academics. The HSSA, whose mission is to celebrate high school athletics and foster goodwill among schools and professional communities, hosted a beautiful banquet on Monday morning to recognize this year’s honorees.
Representing Cathedral Catholic were Maya Evens ’25 and Trevor Cox, accompanied by Athletic Directors Noah Stevens and Colette Cope.
Maya Evens ’25
Sport: Volleyball
GPA: 4.28
College Commitment: University of Notre Dame
Maya has been a standout libero for the Dons, earning back-to-back CIF San Diego Section Libero of the Year honors in 2023 and 2024. She was named a MaxPreps 1st Team All-American this year and set a state record for most digs (16) in the 2022 Open Division State Championship match. Her accolades also include 2023 MaxPreps 2nd Team All-American and VolleyballMag 3rd Team All-American honors. Maya will graduate Cathedral as a 4-time CIF SDS Open Division Champion and a 2-time CIF State Open DIvision Champion.

Trevor Cox
Sport: Golf
GPA: 4.21
College Commitment: UC Berkeley
Trevor has been a dominant force on the golf course, highlighted by his title as the 2023 CIF Individual Champion. A two-time 1st Team All-CIF selection, he is also a proud member of the U.S. National Development Program â Team California. He is currently helping to lead his team as they dominate league play and look to make a run at the CIF SDS Championship. His team is currently ranked #1 in San Diego and he is ranked #3 overall with a -1.09 differential.
We congratulate Maya and Trevor on this well deserved recognition and commend them for representing Cathedral Catholic with integrity, excellence, and pride.
