Athletic Department Honors Excellence at Athletic Awards Night

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the Guadalupe Theater, the Athletics Department celebrated the outstanding achievements of our student-athletes at the annual Athletic Awards Night. This special evening highlighted the dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship of our talented athletes, honoring their exceptional contributions to our school’s proud tradition of athletic excellence.

“Team of the Year”
Although we had many successful teams this year including multiple teams that 3 peated (Girls’ Volleyball, Boys’ Swim and Dive, and Girls’ Beach Volleyball) or in the case of Girls’ Track and Field 4 peat. This year we had one team win a State Championship, our Girls’ Cross Country Team led by: Coach Dan Geiger, Alexandria Pena, Scarlett (Alana) Martin, Lindsay Zimmer, Patsy (Patricia) Hellmann, Liesel Sellerberg, Kristine Bickler, Maria Andrea Radilla Mondragon, and Jocelyn GibsonAs the adage goes “the 3rd time is the charm”, which definitely applies to this team. Two years ago they attended State and came in 3rd. Last year they went and came in 2nd. And finally this year they conquered the course and came home as State Champions. This team has followed in the footsteps of many strong cross country teams, but undoubtedly they left their mark. These ladies finished the season with a 20-0 mark in duel races this year, were Western League Champions, CIF Champions, State Champions, Mt. Sac Relays Champions, Bronco Round Up Champions, and Hoka Postal 2 Mile National Champions.

The Coach Serrano Spirit of the Don Award is awarded to a varsity senior athlete from each team who demonstrates exemplary citizenship and effort throughout the entirety of their season. Each of these recipients were selected by their coaching staff.
