Carter Jackson ’25 Earns Congressional Award Gold Medal
Carter Jackson, a senior for the Dons, stands out for his achievements both in the classroom and on the football field, as well as his commitment to his community. Inspired by his father to pursue football, Carter’s academic success has been driven by the strong values instilled in him by his family. Maintaining a 4.3 GPA while balancing a demanding football schedule, he credits his parents for teaching him the importance of discipline and prioritizing academics over athletics. Their emphasis on education has shaped Carter’s approach to life, where being a student always comes first.
As Carter looks toward the future, he has set his sights on continuing both his academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level, with a particular interest in the Ivy League. Having already visited prestigious schools such as Penn, Harvard, and Yale, he is eager to pursue a degree at one of these esteemed institutions.
In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Carter has made a significant impact through his community involvement. Recently, he earned the prestigious Congressional Award Gold Medal, a recognition that required 400 hours of service, alongside challenges in personal growth, physical fitness, and expeditions. His volunteer work with Solutions for Change, an organization dedicated to helping homeless families, was especially notable. Carter contributed by watching children, cooking meals, and leading a project to build a toy box for sports equipment at the facility.
Carter’s commitment to service is further inspired by Representative Scott Peters, who presented him with the Congressional Award. Witnessing Peters’ leadership and dedication to serving the community has fueled Carter’s desire to continue giving back. As he prepares to apply to universities, Carter remains grateful for the support and opportunities provided by Cathedral Catholic, looking forward to a bright and promising future.
