Cathedral Catholic Cross Country Shines at 2024 Woodbridge Classic



Cathedral Catholic’s cross country athletes showcased their talent and determination at the 2024 Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, held under the lights at the Great Park in Irvine, California. With ideal weather and a prestigious field of top teams from across the state, the Dons delivered strong performances in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions.

Girls Varsity Highlights: In a competitive sweepstakes division, the girls’ team placed 11th out of 26 teams with a score of 360, led by junior Lindsay Zimmer, who finished 54th overall with a time of 17:00.1. Senior Jocelyn Gibson followed closely behind, securing 68th place at 17:16.0, while juniors Patricia Hellmann (98th, 17:38.9) and Liesel Sellerberg (110th, 17:52.6) ran impressive times in a deep field. Senior Chiara Bonomi (151st, 18:20.4) and sophomores Kristine Bickler (165th, 18:31.3) and Calliandra Schulteis (167th, 18:31.7) completed the top finishes for the team.

Boys Varsity Highlights: The boys’ team competed fiercely in the rated division, finishing 25th out of 34 teams with a score of 555. Leading the charge was junior Nathan Wilber, who placed 45th with a sub-15 minute time of 14:59.8. Junior Teddy Lang (120th, 15:32.0), junior Spencer Todd (126th, 15:34.3), sophomore Aiden Angeles (147th, 15:43.1), and junior Andrew Martinez (149th, 15:44.9) followed with strong times. Juniors Makai Labayen (190th, 16:03.3) and Zachary Albers (198th, 16:06.5) rounded out the team’s top performances.

The athletes took full advantage of the cool evening conditions and competitive atmosphere to deliver standout early-season results. Cathedral Catholic’s cross country teams are poised for continued success as they build on these performances in the months ahead.
