CIF Finals: Girls’ Cross Country Win DIII Again, Boy’s Place 2nd



San Diego, Morley Field –  It’s clear to everyone in the world of cross country that the Cathedral Catholic Girls’ Cross Country team is the team to beat in San Diego’s Division III. The girls’ team secured their 4th consecutive championship (no championship race during the ’20 Covid season) dating back to 2019!
 
They low scored the field with a 35, besting second-place finishers, University City High School, by 31 points. Cathedral Catholic had excellent performances from the whole team with everyone finishing in the top 25 with 3 runners finish in the top 5: (2) Alexandria Pena ’24, (3) Lindsay Zimmer ’26, (4) Scarlett (Alana) Martin ’24. The team will look to continue to peak at the right time as they prepare for the state meet in Fresno in 2 weeks.
 

SD CIF Finals Boys - 2nd Place

On the other side, the Cathedral Catholic Boys’ Cross Country had great performances from their young squad, placing second in Division III with a score of 58, only bested by a very talented Sage Creek’s 37. Everyone finished in the top 50, with 2 runners finishing in the top 10: (5) Nathan Wilber ’26 & (6) Teddy Lang ’26. The boys’ team look to build on this performance and finish the season strong in the state meet.
