In front of over 5,000 fans at Mesa College on Friday night, Cathedral Catholic delivered a commanding performance, defeating rival Saint Augustine 42-0 in the latest installment of the Holy Bowl. The Dons asserted their dominance from the outset, quickly building a lead they would never relinquish. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Dons this season.

The scoring opened in the first quarter when Cathedral Catholic’s Jonothan Solomon ’25 punched in a 5-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful extra point from kicker Gage Eastlack ’25 to make it 7-0. The Dons’ ground attack was relentless throughout the game, with William Flores ’27 added another 5-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter to extend the lead to 14-0.

Saint Augustine struggled to contain Cathedral Catholic’s offense, as Solomon found the end zone again with a 15-yard rushing touchdown, bringing the score to 21-0. Just before halftime, PJ Johnson ’26 further added to the Dons’ lead with a 10-yard rushing touchdown, putting the Dons firmly in control at 28-0.

In the second half, Cathedral Catholic continued to overpower the Saints. Honor Faalave ’27 broke free for a 25-yard rushing touchdown, pushing the lead to 35-0. Johnson capped off the night in spectacular fashion, returning a punt 50 yards for a touchdown to make it 42-0, with Eastlack nailing every extra point attempt on the night.

The victory marked another dominant chapter in Cathedral Catholic’s football rivalry with Saint Augustine, as the Dons’ defense kept the Saints off the scoreboard, preserving the shutout. Cathedral Catholic’s relentless rushing attack and special teams prowess were key to their commanding win, much to the delight of their crowd.

The win adds to the Dons’ momentum as they continue their strong season, ranked #2 in the county, and their second in a row against their rivals. Cathedral plays on the road again Friday against a hot Granite Hills team who has won 4 straight.
