Dons Go Back-to-Back at Bear Creek


The Cathedral Catholic boys’ golf team showed early-season strength in March, capturing a second straight team title at The Battle of Bear Creek and continuing to build momentum for what has become a standout year.

The Dons posted a team score of 377, showcasing impressive depth across the lineup and setting the tone for the rest of the spring.

Leading the charge was Frank Zhang ‘27, who delivered a phenomenal round of 66 (-6) to earn medalist honors and win the event outright. His performance highlighted the firepower at the top of Cathedral’s lineup and set the standard for the day.

The Class of 2027 continued to make its presence felt, with Brady Neal ‘27 carding a 73 (+1) and Oliver Mayson ‘27 adding a 77 (+5), giving the Dons a strong trio of scores near the top of the leaderboard.

Sophomore Andrew Dupuy ‘28 contributed a solid round of 76 (+4), further emphasizing the team’s balance between experienced players and emerging talent.

Wyatt Seltzer ‘27 (85, +13) and Austin Van Boxel ‘26 (87, +15) rounded out the scoring, completing a full team effort that underscored Cathedral’s depth from top to bottom.

With back-to-back titles at Bear Creek and contributions throughout the lineup, the Dons made it clear early in the season that they would be a team to watch in San Diego.
