Girls Volleyball Finishes 13th at Prestigious Durango Fall Classic


Cathedral Catholic girls volleyball competed against a nationally recognized field at the prestigious Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas, finishing tied for 13th overall in the two-day tournament.

The Dons opened the tournament with three consecutive victories on September 18, sweeping Corona del Sol (Arizona), Bishop Gorman (Nevada), and Etiwanda (California). On the second day, Cathedral faced two highly ranked opponents, falling to Prestonwood Christian (Texas) and Archbishop Mitty (California), before closing out the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Harrisburg (South Dakota).

The tournament featured many of the nation’s top high school volleyball programs, providing the Dons with a challenging weekend of competition and valuable experience against elite-level opponents.

Through the season’s opening stretch, several Dons have emerged as statistical leaders for Cathedral. Baylee Wilson leads the team with 229 kills, while Sierra Aswad has recorded a team-high 393 assists. Samantha Saba has anchored the defense with 118 total digs, averaging 2.5 digs per set, and Addyson Eslinger leads the team at the net with 31 blocks.

The Dons’ strong showing in Las Vegas continues a competitive season and provides valuable momentum as Cathedral returns to San Diego competition.
