September 21
Sailors were treated to ideal conditions on Mission Bay with a consistent breeze of 8-10 knots and a strong current that allowed for a full day of competitive and strategic racing. Sailors were on the water from noon-4:30PM and competed in seven races that saw Cathedral Catholic and Point Loma High School battling it out for the top spots. In the boys ILCA 6 division, Owen Fretwell ’26 finished the day in 2nd and William ‘Liam’ Kaseburg ’26 in 4th place. In the girls division, Sophomore Lauren Grace MacVaugh-Howe ’27 competed in her first ILCA 6 regatta along with Junior Carlin Fretwell ’26 who both made improvements as the day of racing progressed.

September 22
With only a few points between the top sailors in the boys ILCA 6 fleet, Sunday brought windy conditions of 12-15 knots and an intense series of 6 races where the top 2 spots were constantly shifting between every race. The ILCA 6 girls fleet also competed in 6 races and Carlin Fretwell ’26 had a great comeback with a fifth place finish after snapping her mast in race number nine. Owen Fretwell ’26 finished the day with a twelve point lead to take 1st and Liam Kaseburg ’26 finished in 6th. The team celebrated the win with the tradition of throwing Owen in the bay.
