Cathedral Catholic Celebrates College-Bound Student-Athletes


 

Cathedral Catholic Athletics proudly celebrated another milestone this week, as 19 student-athletes were recognized at the school’s College Commitment Ceremony, bringing the Class of 2026’s total college-bound student-athletes to 59.

The ceremony honored student-athletes who have earned the opportunity to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. Their accomplishments reflect years of dedication, discipline, and commitment to their teams, coaches, classmates, and the Cathedral Catholic community.

From nationally ranked programs to prestigious academic institutions nationwide, these Dons will continue to represent Cathedral Catholic at the next level while carrying forward the values and traditions established during their time on campus.

“We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes and all they have accomplished,” said Boys Cathedral Catholic Athletic Director Noah Stevens. “Their commitment and leadership have had a tremendous impact on our programs and school community. We are excited to see what they accomplish in college and beyond.”

  • Aidan Smith-McGlynn — Riverside City College

Rugby

  • Adrian Aybar — University of San Diego
  • Colin Bjerke — Cal Poly Maritime Academy
  • Kingston Hawkins — University of California, Berkeley
  • Will McDermott — Saint Mary’s College of California
  • Nick Ocon — University of Kentucky

Sailing

  • Charlie Corney — University of South Florida
  • Carlin Fretwell — University of South Florida

Cathedral Catholic Athletics continues to build one of the premier high school athletic traditions in California, as student-athletes excel both competitively and academically. With 59 commitments already announced, the Class of 2026 has continued the strong legacy of Dons competing at the collegiate level nationwide.
