TRYOUT/FIRST DAY INFORMATION

To be eligible to tryout for and participate on a sports team at Cathedral Catholic, you must complete the athletic clearance process EVERY SCHOOL YEAR. All online paperwork must be completed in full, and physicals must be uploaded to Home Campus’ site. You must be fully enrolled at Cathedral Catholic to be considered, and you must attend a parent meeting.

Failure to complete any step of the clearance process will prevent your student-athlete from tryouts, practices, and competitions. You are encouraged to complete the process early so we can help troubleshoot any issues before the start of your student-athlete’s sport.

Step 1 – Create an Online Clearance Profile on Home Campus (forms open on June 8th, 2026)

The Cathedral Catholic High School Athletic Department uses the third-party website Home Campus for athletic registration. Parents must register their student(s) for each sport they plan to participate in. Athletic Clearance for the 2026 – 2027 school year will open on June 8, 2026. Note: If your student-athlete plays multiple sports, you can add another sport on the confirmation page, but you DO NOT need to complete a 2nd registration for the additional sport(s).

Navigate to www.homecampus.com/login or click this hyperlink.

Create an account or login to your existing account. Do not use a student’s school email when creating your account. Follow the steps below.

  • Select “CA.”
  • Select “Create an Account.” Or login to an existing account.
  • Once logged in, select “Clearances” in the top left corner.
  • Select “Start Clearance Here” in the top right corner.
  • Type in “Cathedral Catholic” in the school field.
  • In the school year field, select “2025 – 2026.”
  • Select student’s sport (select ALL sports regardless of season).
  • Click “Next.”
  • Complete ALL required fields for:
    • Student Information
    • Parent/Guardian Information
    • Offer (NCSA College Recruiting)
    • Medical History
    • Additional Questions
    • Signature Forms (signature must match exactly, including capitalization)
    • Files – UPLOAD PHYSICAL – CCHS Physical Exam Form or the form from your doctor that clearly states you are cleared for athletics.
      • Athletic physicals must be completed on or after June 6th and are valid for one school year.
      • They must be completed by a licensed healthcare provider in California. This includes a physician (MD/DO), a physician’s associate (PA-C), or a nurse practitioner (NP).
      • Please note that you can skip this step if the physical has not yet been completed. You can upload it later or have it brought to the athletic office. Your student-athlete WILL NOT be cleared without a valid physical on file.

Once the above steps are completed, you will receive a “CONFIRMATION MESSAGE” from Home Campus. Your student-athlete’s clearance is now ready for review by the athletics department. Their status will remain “PENDING” until the rest of the clearance process is complete.

YOUR STUDENT ATHLETE IS NOT CLEARED YET! Continue through steps 2 and 3.

Step 2 – Transfer Paperwork & Meeting (only where applicable)

You are considered a transfer athlete if you fall into either of the following two categories:

  • A new incoming 10th-, 11th-, or 12th-grade student
  • OR a 9th-grade mid-year transfer

If these categories apply to your child, you must meet with one of the athletic directors before your child can be cleared to participate. Please reach out to athletics (if you haven’t already) at atheleticdirectors@cchsdons.com to set up an appointment. This process can take some time, so please don’t delay in scheduling an appointment.

Step 3 – Pick Up Clearance Card from Athletic Office

Once the above steps are complete, the athletic department will issue a CLEARANCE CARD that each student-athlete must pick up PRIOR to the 1st day of tryouts/practice.

Clearance cards are MANDATORY, and the student-athlete will not be allowed to participate in athletics without a clearance card.

If your student-athlete plays multiple sports, please note that they must visit the athletic office to obtain a new clearance card for each sport. No exceptions will be made, so plan accordingly.
