Since opening in 2005, Cathedral Catholic’s athletic facilities have established the standard for excellence, providing student-athletes with top-tier venues to train, compete, and develop. From state-of-the-art fields, courts, and scoreboards to specialized performance areas, each facility demonstrates the school’s dedication to nurturing champions in competition, fait and community.

Christopher J. Mattix Weight Room

The Dons weight room acts as a year-round training hub for all athletic programs and is an essential part of our Physical Education curriculum.

Claver Center (Gymnasium)

The Claver Center hosts daily practices and competitions for badminton, basketball, fencing, volleyball, and wrestling, and displays the school’s CIF regional and state championship banners.

Green Room

Home of wrestling, dance, and fencing. This multipurpose space is used for practices and small events and features a recently installed specialized dance floor.

Guadalupe Theater

On-campus event center and performance home of our theater program and dance team’s winter concert. This multipurpose venue also hosts pregame and postgame meals, awards dinners, team banquets, Hall of Fame inductions, and college commitment ceremonies throughout the year.

Jane Johnson Tennis Center

Six-court home of boys and girls tennis, with over 20 combined CIF singles, doubles, and team championships.

Lower Turf Field

Cathedral Catholic has two full-length turf fields. The lower turf field serves as the home of field hockey and is used year-round as a multipurpose practice space for rugby, lacrosse, football, baseball, softball, flag football, and soccer.

Lynch Allred Tournament Field

With roots dating back to Uni, Dons baseball brings energy at every level, highlighted by home runs, walk-up songs, and fast-paced play. Many future college and MLB players have done work on these fields. Note, the retirement of Brycen Newman’s #3 jersey and a mural in his honor in the home dugout.

Manchester Stadium & Amanda Post Track

Manchester Stadium is home to Dons flag football, football, rugby, soccer, lacrosse, and track & field. This stadium, boasting a state-of-the-art sports turf field and surrounding Amanda Post track, holds a capacity of 5,000 people.

Schnell Family Sand Volleyball Courts

The boys’ and girls’ beach volleyball programs at Cathedral Catholic have grown significantly over the years, with the girls’ team winning their first-ever San Diego Section Championship in 2022.

Softball Field

Home of Cathedral Catholic Softball, a program with nine CIF championships. Features an on-site batting cage and a state-of-the-art scoreboard.

 

Waitt Aquatic Center

Cathedral Catholic’s 25 x 50 m outdoor swimming pool is home to the boys and girls water polo, swim, and dive teams.
